Sales Return Summary
One row per return note: gross, discount, tax, rewards taken back, expenses, return total, and money already refunded.
Questions It Answers
- What is the total return per division this period?
- Which returns have not been refunded to the customer yet?
- What reward value was pulled back with the returns?
Filters
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Transaction Date | Date range of the return notes. Empty means the whole history - slow on years of data, so always fill it. |
| Division | Pre-filled from the user role's default division. A role locked to one division cannot change it. |
| Currency | Only transactions in that currency. Amounts are still shown in the company default currency. |
How To Read It
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sales Invoice, Sales Date, Customer Name | Number and date of the return note (not the original invoice), and its customer. |
| Gross, Discount Value, Tax | Value of returned goods before discount, their line discount, and tax (including extra tax). |
| Reward, Reward tax | Reward products taken back with the return, and their tax. |
| Expenses | Charges applied to the return (e.g. a restocking deduction). |
| Net | Return total owed to the customer. |
| Payment | Money already refunded or offset (return note Payments tab). Net - Payment = what is still open. |
Source: approved Sales Return notes (when the approval workflow is on). Figures are positive; subtract them from the sales reports yourself for net sales.
Why The Numbers May Differ
- Returns of POS receipts are included, because what is read is the return note regardless of where the sale came from.
- A return offset directly against receivables shows as a full Payment - that does not mean cash left the till.
- Documents still waiting for approval are not counted. If the approval workflow is on and the figures look low, check the Approval Queue.
