Product Sales by Brand
Sales per product grouped by brand, with COGS and profit. For negotiating with principals and deciding which brands are worth keeping.
Questions It Answers
- Which brand is the most profitable, not just the best-selling?
- What is brand X's turnover for the principal's incentive claim?
- Which products within a brand are not moving?
Filters
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Transaction Date | Date range of the sales. Empty means the whole history - slow on years of data, so always fill it. |
| Division | Pre-filled from the user role's default division. A role locked to one division cannot change it. |
| Department | Limits to one department (warehouse/outlet) inside the division; pre-filled from the role default when set. |
| Brand | One brand from the Product Brand master. |
How To Read It
Nested result: Brand > product rows.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Quantity, Unit, Gross, Discount, Net | As in other sales reports: Net = Gross - line Discount. |
| Cost of Goods Sold | Quantity x COGS at the time of sale. |
| Profit, Profit Margin | Profit = Gross - Discount - tax in price - COGS; Margin = Profit / (Gross - tax in price) x 100%. Only for roles allowed to see purchase prices. |
| Tax, Extra Tax, Subtotal | Subtotal = Net + taxes. |
Why The Numbers May Differ
- Counts Sales invoices and POS receipts in the period, including those still awaiting approval when the workflow is on - unlike the "by Division" reports, which count approved documents only.
- Products without a brand in the master belong to no brand and are not shown.
- Returns are not deducted. For net sales, subtract the Sales Return report with the same grouping.
- Quantities are not converted between units: a product sold in boxes and in pieces shows as separate rows with their own quantities.
