Unpaid Dividend
The Unpaid Dividend report shows entitlements that have been calculated but not yet paid out - the company’s liability to its shareholders.
When to Use This Report
- When the outstanding dividend liability needs review.
- When reconciling the Dividend Payable Account balance in the general ledger.
- Before closing the books, so unpaid liabilities are not missed.
How to Use
- Fill in the date period carefully because most reports read transactions by date.
- Run the report, then check totals and details before printing or exporting.
- Save or export the result when it is needed for reconciliation or audit.
How to Read the Results
- Each row is an unwithdrawn entitlement, per shareholder per period.
- The total should match the Dividend Payable Account balance, because the declaration credits that account and each withdrawal debits it.
- A row disappears from this report as soon as its withdrawal is saved.
Common Issues
- Rows do not decrease after payment: make sure the withdrawal is saved and not cancelled.
- The total does not match the ledger: check for manual journals touching the dividend account outside this module.
