Queue Kiosk
The touch-screen page where visitors take a number: pick a service, the ticket prints, plus a QR code to follow the queue from a phone. Opened on a tablet or kiosk computer registered as a Queue Device of type Kiosk.
Setting Up A Kiosk
- Register the device in Queue Device with Device Type Ticket Kiosk, its division, the services offered (empty = every service in the division), printer profile, and Ticket Design.
- Install Acosys Client on the kiosk computer/tablet so tickets can print; its printer profile must carry the same name as the Printer Name on the device.
- Open the Queue Kiosk page on that device and enter the Device Token (32 characters) once. It is stored in the browser; it can also be passed as
...?token=<token>. - Go full screen. To leave, press the admin area and enter the device's Admin PIN.
What Visitors See
- A button per service in its colour; services that allow priority have a priority-number button.
- After pressing: the ticket number large, "Printing ticket...", and a QR code Scan to follow your place in the queue from your phone opening the public status page.
- The public status page shows the ticket number, how many are ahead, and Estimated Wait = today's average service time (or the Serve Target when there is no data yet) × tickets ahead ÷ active counters for that service.
Why The Kiosk Refuses To Issue A Number
- "Outside its opening hours" / "does not operate today": the service's Opening-Closing Time or Active Days do not include now. Set both times to 00:00 for 24 hours.
- "Today's ticket quota is used up": the service's Daily Quota is reached; set 0 for unlimited.
- "This service is not active": the service is disabled in the master.
- "Queue device is unknown or inactive": wrong token, or the device was disabled.
- "The system is not connected": the server is unreachable. There is no offline mode - deliberately, so two identical numbers can never be born.
Common Problems
- Number issued but not printed: Acosys Client is not running on the device, or the Printer Name does not match a printer profile in Acosys Client. The number is still valid - the visitor can use the QR code.
- Numbers not in sequence with another kiosk: they will never clash; the sequence is kept by the database, not the kiosk.
- Screen does not change after a counter calls: the kiosk need not - that is the Queue Display's job.
