Project Dashboard
One screen holding the running projects, ordered by target finish, with physical progress and cost absorption side by side. It carries only what demands action today.
Questions It Answers
- Which project is burning cost faster than it is finishing work?
- Which project has the nearest target finish?
- Which running project has no budget yet, so its absorption cannot be computed?
Filters
| Filter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Start Date | Required. The range of project start dates to show. Use a wide range (for example the start of the year until today) to see every running project, then run the report. |
How To Read It
Only projects with status Running appear, ordered by Target Finish then project code.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Project | Project code and name. |
| Target Finish | Target finish from the Project master; a dash means it is not filled in. |
| Physical Progress % | From WBS task weights and progress. Zero means the WBS tasks carry no weight yet, or their progress has not been entered. |
| Cost Absorbed % | Total Committed divided by total budget. A dash means that project has no budget yet - not that it has no cost. |
| Gap | Cost Absorbed minus Physical Progress. A positive number is printed bold: cost is running ahead of work. That is the earliest warning a project can give. |
Cost Absorbed here already includes material purchased but not yet issued to the project, so the gap does not jump the moment the warehouse issues it.
Why The Numbers May Differ
- Projects with status Planned, On Hold, Finished, and Cancelled never appear here - use All Projects Summary for those.
- The gap only means something when both sides are filled: WBS weights entered and a budget entered. With either missing the gap misleads.
- Physical progress is computed against the weights that actually exist, not against 100 - so a half-built WBS still gives a defensible number.
