When to Use This Form

When the equity module is first set up.
When the dividends payable, share capital, or profit and loss account changes.
When finance wants to make sure equity journals use the correct accounts.

Before You Start

Make sure the dividends payable account, share capital account, and profit/loss account are available in the chart of accounts.
Coordinate account changes with finance because these settings are used when creating equity journals.

Workflow

Open Equity / Equity Settings / Equity Settings.
Fill in or correct the dividends payable account, share capital account, and profit/loss account.
Re-check the account code and name before saving.
Save, then check the dividend calculation process or equity reports that use these settings.

Details and Relations

This form has no detail table. The data is saved directly from the main fields.

What Happens After Saving

Dividend calculation and withdrawal use the accounts saved in these settings.
A wrong account can make equity journals go to the wrong financial report item.
If a required account has not been selected, the application rejects the save and shows a validation message.

Common Problems

Settings cannot be saved: check the dividends payable account, share capital account, and profit/loss account.
Dividend journal goes to the wrong account: re-check the accounts selected in these settings.
Equity report is wrong: make sure the accounts used are in the correct account category.

Account

Available on account fields such as Dividend Account, Equity Account, and Profit/Loss Account. If the required equity account does not exist yet, click + to create it, then continue the same equity settings setup.
