Pipeline Stage
The list of stages a deal passes through. Filled once at the start with the built-in button, then rarely touched.
How To Fill It
- Open this form and press Seed Default Stages & Sources.
- Six stages appear: Prospect, Credit Qualification, Quotation/SO, Price & Terms Negotiation, Won, and Lost. Five lead sources come with them.
- Rename them if your company uses different words. Order is controlled by the Order column.
The button is safe to press repeatedly: it only fills tables that are still empty, so a pipeline you designed will not be overwritten.
Fields Worth Attention
| Field | What to watch |
|---|---|
| Name & Order | Order decides the column layout on the Pipeline Board. |
| Stage Type | Open, Won, or Lost. This is what gives a stage meaning to the reports — not its name. A stage named "Won" but typed Open is counted as still running. |
| Probability | Expected win chance at this stage, 0–100. It is copied onto a deal when the deal moves into the stage. |
| Active | Switch off to hide an old stage without deleting the deals that passed through it. |
Why There Is a Credit Qualification Stage
- In distribution, new accounts fail on credit worthiness far more often than on price.
- Making it its own stage forces that decision before goods ship, not after the receivable ages.
- The credit limit and term agreed here are recorded on the Deal, and travel with the lead conversion.
